Microsoft OneDrive Collaborations in Canvas

You can use Microsoft OneDrive to create a collaboration with a Microsoft Word, Excel, or PowerPoint file. You can select individual users, groups, or both as part of a collaboration. You can create course events in the Calendar to alert invitees about collaborations in the Calendar.


Instructors

  1. In Course Navigation, click the Collaborations link.
    A vertical menu lists Chat, Outcomes, Quizzes, Conferences, Collaborations (highlighted with a red outline), and SCORM.

  3. Once logged, in a new collaboration can be created.

  5. Enter details for the collaboration document. 
    1. Enter the title of the collaboration document (1).

  6. In the window, click the name(s) of the individuals who will collaborate on the document [1]. The selected individual will move to the right panel of the window.
    1. To remove a collaborator, click their name [2].

  1. Collaborations may also use Groups if they have been created in People tab. First time group collaboration will require Canvas Authorization.
    Note: Collaborations do not work in Canvas Group sites so collaborative group work must be done in the main course site. Digital authorization interface for OneDrive access via Canvas, featuring user details and options to authorize or cancel.
  2. In the window, click the group which will collaborate on the document [1]. The selected group(s) will move to the right panel of the window.
    1. To remove a Group, click the group name in the right side window panel.
    2. To remove all collaborators, click Remove All.

  3. Click Save
