Canvas Semester Preparation Checklist

As you get ready for the semester to begin, here is a quick checklist to help make sure you are ready to go on day one.

General Setup

•  Add a profile picture.
•  Canvas and Course-Level notifications.
•  Review your course navigation menu, re-order and hide tools you don't want students to see.
•  Add Teaching Assistants to the course and give them the TA role.
• Create Groups if you would like your students to collaborate with one another. Student Guidance
•  Direct students to the Canvas student guide for help.
•  Setup Canvas and Course-Level notifications.
• Course Preparation  Review your course settings, including the start and end dates.
•  Setup your syllabus.
•  Setup your course homepage.
•  By default, students can use Discussions; turn it off if you want to limit use.
•  Add lock dates to individual modules that you would like to unlock later. 
•  Check page accessibility with UDOIT.
•  Use Student View to see how students see your course; review pages, images, and links.
•  Publish your course.
