FileMaker Pro is powerful software used to create databases to manage contacts, inventory, projects, invoices, assets, and more. You can also use FileMaker Pro to create and access custom apps, quickly import data, and many other tools.

Get Started

If you currently have FileMaker Pro version 19, submit a FileMaker Pro License Renewal Request to upgrade to version 21

If you do not currently have FilerMaker Pro or your on version 17 or below, submit the FileMaker Pro Software and License Request instead.

While it's not required, if you have a need to connect to colleagues in your office to a central FileMaker database, we can help with that. To learn more, contact ITAC.

FileMaker Pro for Mac

  • This software is available for use on faculty or staff workstations and in computer labs.
  • You must request a license renewal annually.
  • This version of software must be installed on Texas State-owned Mac computers.
  • You must be logged in as an administrator on your Mac to install the software.
  • Your Mac must have Jamf installed on the computer to install this version of the software.
  • Your computer must be connected directly to the Texas State network to use the Jamf method.

If you have questions about these prerequisites, please contact ITAC or your department's technical support person (TSP) before proceeding.

Installation Steps

Step 1:

Submit one of these requests:

FileMaker Pro License Renewal Request-Those who do not currently have FilerMaker for your on version 17 or below.

FileMaker Pro Software and License Request-Those who currently have FileMaker Pro version 19, submit this form to upgrade your license to version 21.

Once you receive confirmation that the software has been made available to your computer, proceed to the next step.

Step 2:

  1. Open Jamf.
  2. Locate and install the software.

FileMaker Pro for Windows

  • This software is available for use on faculty or staff workstations and in computer labs.
  • You must request a license and renewal annually.
  • This version of software must be installed on Texas State-owned Windows computers.
  • Your computer must be a member of the Texas State (TXSTATE) domain. 
  • Your computer must be managed. Most computers on the TXSTATE domain are managed. (If you do not have Software Center, your computer is not managed.)

What's New

Master-detail layouts

Leverage the new portal enhancements to create common design patterns like master-detail layouts. Eliminate the need to create self-join relationships and additional scripts.

Starter apps

Get started more quickly by choosing one of the six new Starter apps. Add more functionality by connecting an Add-on Table to the app. Choose from apps to manage assets, contacts, content, inventory, meetings, and tasks.

My Apps window

Launch any of your custom apps from one convenient window. Easily navigate to the Recent tab to find recently opened files, and the Create tab to find the new Starter apps.

Group object selection

Easily modify, reposition, or resize an individual object within a group without first needing to ungroup all objects.

Redesigned Layout mode

The Inspector, Fields tab, and Objects tab are more discoverable through convenient panes inside the document window. Hide or show panes individually.
