Software and apps that are only installed on and used on individual desktop or laptop computers, such as those in offices and computer labs. Workstation software only stores and processes data on the computer it's installed on and doesn't typically transmit any data across the network or the Internet. Examples include locally installed statistical and data analysis programs, productivity software, desktop graphics and design applications, etc.
