Graduate Application Fee or Fee Waiver Update

Thank you for your interest in graduate studies at Texas State University!  If you meet either of the requirements below, we can temporarily waive the fee for you so that you may submit the corresponding documents for approval.  As a publicly funded university, our fee waivers are based on taxes paid in the U.S.  Unfortunately, we do not have any application fee waivers available to international applicants.  Please keep in mind that once the fee is paid, it cannot be waived or refunded.

Graduate application fee waivers are based on evidence of financial need and are intended to assist in the admission of graduate-bound students from economically disadvantaged backgrounds. To qualify for a fee waiver, you must:

  • have an application on file with The Graduate College (let us know after you have reached the payment screen in part 1 of the application – do not pay the fee)
    AND
  • show proof of financial need based on an SAI of 5,000 or less as found in a submitted Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) currently on file with Texas State University's Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships.
    OR
  • provide The Graduate College with a copy of the official award letter stating your status as a McNair/Fulbright Scholar. (This award letter must not be dated more than a year old.)
