Metadata includes important details like login URLs, certificates, and supported protocols that allow our system and the third-party service to trust and communicate with each other securely.
There are two ways to provide metadata:
- Metadata URL: A web link where the service’s metadata can be retrieved automatically. This is the preferred and most reliable option.
- Metadata File: A downloadable XML file that contains the same technical information and can be uploaded manually.
If you don’t have metadata, please contact the service provider and ask if they can supply either a metadata URL or file.
Note: Texas State University does not create metadata for third-party services. If the vendor is not willing to provide metadata in some capacity—either through a URL or a file—we are unable to proceed with the connection.
