Get Started

The versions of NVivo offered on this page is for faculty use on individual work computers. NVivo can also be installed by request in classrooms and computer labs:

NVivo for Mac

Get Started

  • This software is available free of charge to faculty for teaching purposes of the university.
  • This version of software can be installed on Texas State-owned computers.
  • Your Mac must have Jamf installed on the computer to install this version of the software.
  • Your computer must be connected directly to the Texas State network to use the Jamf method.

Installation Instructions

Step 1

Faculty (or applicable Staff): Submit an NVivo Request. After you receive confirmation that the software has been made available to your computer, proceed to the next step.

Step 2

  1. Open Jamf.
  2. Locate and install the software.

NVivo for Windows

Get Started

  • This software is available free of charge to faculty for teaching purposes of the university.
  • This software can be installed on Texas State-owned Windows computers.
  • Your computer must be a member of the Texas State (TXSTATE) domain. 
  • Your computer must be managed. Most computers on the TXSTATE domain are managed. (If you do not have Software Center, your computer is not managed.)

Installation Instructions

Step 1

Faculty (or applicable Staff): Submit an NVivo Request. After you receive confirmation that the software has been made available to your computer, proceed to the next step.

Step 2

  1. Open Software Center.
  2. Locate and install the software.

NVivo for Work at Home

Get Started

  • This software is available free of charge to faculty for teaching purposes of the university. 
  • This software can be installed on personal computers for work at home purposes.
  • To install this software on a personal computer, you must first install it on a Texas State-owned computer.

Installation Instructions

Step 1

Faculty (or applicable Staff): Submit an NVivo Request. After you receive confirmation that the software has been made available to your computer, proceed to the next step.

Step 2

A friendly ITAC agent will contact you and guide you through the installation process.
