Does the TXST bookstore offer educational pricing on Apple devices? 

Yes, Apple products such as Macs, Macbooks, and Ipads are priced with educational pricing at the TXST Bookstore 

 

What is TXST Duo, and how do I set it up? 

Duo is a multi-factor authentication service used by TXST to keep student accounts secured and protect confidential information. For more information on Duo and how to set it up, go here

 

Is Canva Pro available to students? 

Students have access to Canva Pro for free. For login information or other assistance, go here

 

When do I get access to TXST offered software and services?

It depends on the service. Students generally will get access to most services once they’ve registered for classes. Their Microsoft Office account is available once they’ve been officially accepted to the university. 

 

How do warranty repairs work? 

ITAC has Apple and Dell-certified technicians who can assess the problem and provide you with a repair quote. For more information on Computer Repairs, go here. 

 

How do I pay for ITAC services? 

Students can pay at the Service Center Desk or Online. The only accepted method of payment is by card. 

 

Can students set up payment for ITAC services in advance? 

No, ITAC services are paid for by card only AFTER completion of the services.  

 

What is Bobcat Mail, how do I set it up? 

Texas State Email, known as Bobcat Mail, is our official email service via Microsoft 365. To activate your TXST email, go here

 

What are your laptop recommendations? 

Texas State makes no recommendations as to which platform of computer you should bring. However, we encourage you to talk to your department's academic advisor, because some colleges and programs have platform preferences.

 

What type of devices does ITAC repair? 

We will repair any non-mobile devices as long as parts are available. 

 

What is the general estimate for the cost of services for personal devices through ITAC? 

$20 diagnostic fee. $50 standard repair cost (diagnostic is applied to this cost) + tax. Parts will be variable based on current pricing and availability. Hardware will confirm the charges and get the customer's approval before any repairs. Payment is collected at the computer pick-up 

 

Can you diagnose issues with personal devices that are not under warranty? 

Yes, if the personal device is not a mobile device. Mobile devices include phones, tablets, watches, etc.

 

How many ethernet ports are in a TXST dorm room? 

TXST on-campus residents can expect to find at least one Ethernet port in their dorm rooms. Ethernet splitters and switches are NOT permitted in TXST dorms. For more information on specific halls, check out their pages on the TXST website or contact Housing and Residential Life. 

 

What devices does TXST-Home Wi-Fi connect to? 

TXST-Home Wi-Fi is used to connect personal, gaming, and media devices that only accept a password to connect. For more information on how to connect devices to TXST-Home, go here. 

 

What is the difference between TXST-Bobcats Wi-Fi and TXST-Home Wi-Fi? 

TXST-Bobcats is the main campus Wi-Fi network, requiring a NetID and password for access, while TXST-Home is an on-campus residential Wi-Fi network designed for devices that only support password-based connections. For more information on how to connect to TXST Wi-Fi, go here. 

 

Can I download Microsoft 365 apps on my Apple device? 

Yes, Texas State University students, faculty, and staff can download and use Microsoft 365 apps on their Apple devices. For more information, go here. 

 

Will ITAC be hiring student workers for Fall 2025? 

Yes, ITAC student-employee applications will be opening on July 21, 2025. For more information on what positions may be available and where to apply, go here. 

 

Can the ITAC Service Desk help me download or setup software, services, and apps available to students? 

Mostly, we can provide the best effort assistance for most software. We do not fully support every piece of software on campus, though, so we may need to utilize outside resources, but we can assist in the downloading and installing of most TXST software, apps, and services. 

 

How long is Microsoft 365 available to incoming TXST students? 

Texas State students have access to Microsoft 365 for as long as they are students. All access will be revoked roughly one year after you graduate. For more information on Microsoft 365 go here. 

 

Is Adobe Creative Cloud free to TXST students? 

No, Adobe Creative Cloud is not free for all Texas State University students, but professors can request semester-long access to Adobe CC for their classes, or students can purchase Adobe software for personal devices at a discounted price. For more information on Adobe CC go here. Additionally current TXST students can access Adobe Express for free with their TXST credentials.  

 

What is an Email Alias and how do I set one for my TXST Email?
  • An Email Alias allows you to customize your Texas State email address to make it more personal or professional.
  • You can set or change your alias in the Online Toolkit, for a step-by step guide on how to set up your Email Alias go here. 
  • If you are having trouble creating an Email Alias submit this form or reach out to ITAC here.
  • NOTE: You will still need your NetID to login to TXST services, the purpose of the Email Alias is to provide a more appealing shareable email handle.
