Promotions Folder

The Promotions folder is an automated inbox category which filters marketing emails, deals, bulk email, and advertising away from your primary inbox. This helps to keep your inbox clutter free and minimizes the time you spend sorting through promotional content.

Promotions Folder FAQ

I do not want to use the Promotions folder. How do I opt out?

Email itac@txstate.edu to opt out of using the Promotions folder. Ensure you include your Texas State NetID in your message.

 

Can I delete the Promotions folder?

No. If you delete the Promotions folder, the folder’s contents will be deleted, however the folder will reappear when a new promotional email is detected.

 

Does the Promotions folder delete emails?

No. The Promotions folder does not automatically delete emails. You must manually delete messages found in the folder.

 

What kinds of messages are sent to the Promotions folder?

The promotions folder primarily moves bulk email which includes advertising, promotional, and marketing emails.

 

What happens if I check my Promotions folder and see an email which is not promotional in nature?

If you see an email which does not belong in the Promotions folder, simply drag the email out of Promotions and into your inbox. This will help train the system to not move those emails to the Promotions folder.

 

What happens if I get an email in my inbox and it is marketing related and should be in the Promotions folder?

If you see an email in your inbox which is promotional in nature, move the message out of your inbox and into the Promotions folder.
