Requests for Additional Software
Applications may be requested to be hosted by someone able to support the software which includes installation, support and maintenance. Prospective software owners may request their application be hosted by filling out the Hosted Software Request form.
The turn around time for additional software is typically 30 days depending on the complexity of the software and its associated license agreements.
NOTE: Not all software can be installed in TXST RemoteApps. For each additional software request, TXST IT will evaluate the license agreement and software requirements to make sure we stay in compliance with the vendor and university agreements.
Request Process
All software requests must be reviewed prior to creation and is recommended to request at least 20 business days in advance to allow for enough time for approvals.
- Information Security - Software Assessment - Ensure the software has been assessed for use at Texas State University and establish any mitigating controls for being hosted in the Texas State Data Center.
- IT Business Operations - License Check - Is the software licensed for use at Texas State University as well as for use with terminal services?
- IT Assistance Center – Service Desk - Support Check - Identify who supports the application as far as installation, troubleshooting, and general ownership to ensure software is kept up to date and tested.
- IT Assistance Center – PCDM - Desktop Management Check - Provide packaging support if software exists in current Desktop management tools and ensure version is up to date.
- Technology Resources - Compatibility Check - Identify any challenges such as load or support when it comes to hosting this software.
Software Owner
The Software Owner is is the designated point of contact for IT to contact and will be responsible for the following:
- Installation
- Support
- Maintenance
- This includes keeping up to date with security vulnerabilities and request updates to the hosted software in a timely manner
