Setup Turnitin with Canvas Assignments
Request Turnitin Web Account
Before you request a Turnitin Account:
- Turnitin is available in Canvas LMS through the Assignments tool.
- There is no requirement to request a Turnitin account as it is fully integrated with Canvas, allowing setup and use easier for both instructors and students.
- The integration with Canvas adds all the same features which are available when using the Turnitin Web version with the sole exception of submitting an individual student paper via Quick Submit which is only available through the Turnitin web version.
Turnitin.com Accounts can be requested if you do not want to use Canvas with Turnitin but instead want to use the Turnitin web portal to manage your Turnitin Classes and assignments.
- Request a Texas State Turnitin.com Account.
- Create a course on Turnitin.com and use their grading and feedback features offered.
- Students will need to enroll into the Turnitin Course site.
- Students will upload papers directly to a Turnitin.com assignment.
Assignments on the Turnitin web portal do not integrate with the Canvas gradebook and do not import into the Canvas gradebook.
NOTES:
- Creating Turnitin assignments without a due date is not recommended; if you do not set a due date in Canvas, a due date will be automatically assigned via the Turnitin tool.
- Resubmissions are not allowed by default. To allow resubmissions for a Canvas Turnitin assignment, see resubmitting on behalf of a student.
