Convert Question Banks in Classic Quizzes into Item Banks for New Quizzes

New Quizzes uses a new test engine than Classic Quizzes and are therefore question banks/pools you have previously created are not compatible with each other.

If a course previously used Classic Quizzes with Question Groups linked to Question Banks, those Question Banks when migrated will create Item Banks for the course.

How to Create a Classic Quiz with Question Groups Linked to Question Pools

  1. Navigate to Quizzes and select + Quiz
  2. From the list of Quiz Engines, select Classic Quizzes.

  1. Click Submit. 
  2. Enter a Quiz title and click the Questions tab.
  3. Click + New Question Group.
  4. Enter a title for the group and click Link to a Question Bank.

  1. Locate and click the title of the Question Bank to add. Click Select Bank.

  1. Click Create Group.

  1. The questions in the group will be pulled from selected bank.

  1. Click + New Question Group to add additional banks if needed. 
  2. Click Save.

 

Migrate the Classic Quiz to New Quizzes to Create Item Banks

  1. Click the ellipses for the newly created quiz and select Migrate.

  1. When the quiz has finished migrating, an alert will display at the top of the Quizzes page.

  1. The selected quiz will recreate the quiz in the New Quizzes format and leave the original quiz intact.

  1. Click Item Banks in course toolbar and the Item Bank will be added and shared with the current course.
