Copilot FAQs

Copilot is still in its pre-adoption phases. Information about MS Copilot chat is relevant for all faculty and staff members. The information related to MS 365 Copilot is only pertinent to advanced Copilot license holders at this time.

 

I've been given access to Copilot but I don't see it on my Microsoft apps. What do I do?

It's necessary to switch your Microsoft 365 license type in order to use Copilot. View the How to Switch your M365 License for Copilot help article for step-by-step instructions.

NOTES:

  • The Copilot service may require a restart of your application, or a restart of the desktop before the feature’s options appear. 
  • Initially, you may receive licensing error messages. Those will resolve.

Does Copilot work for Mac computers?

Yes, you can use Copilot on Mac devices.

 

I'm a faculty member and would like to show Copilot to my students. How do I get it on my classroom computer?

You can use your Microsoft 365 web applications to show Copilot capabilities in the classroom.

 

Is there a limit to how many devices I can use Copilot on?

You can use Copilot on up to 5 devices. When you have reached this limit, you will need to sign out of your account on the devices you previously used.

To avoid this, we suggest signing out of any device that you are a guest on.
